Philosophy and Winemaking

Aaron Pott’s journey in winemaking began with a strong academic foundation, earning a degree in Enology from the University of California, Davis, and later studying at the Université de Bourgogne in Dijon, France. His time in Bordeaux, working under luminaries like Michel Rolland at Château Troplong Mondot and Château La Tour Figeac, profoundly influenced his approach to winemaking. Returning to Napa Valley, Pott worked with prestigious estates such as Quintessa and Newton Vineyard before launching his own label. Pott now produces a range of wines under his own label including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Grenache and Viognier. Aaron sources fruit from some of Napa Valley’s most celebrated appellations, including Mt. Veeder, Howell Mountain, and St. Helena, as well as his estate vineyard called Pott Art!, crafting wines that emphasize balance, purity, and terroir.

This report focuses on his latest releases from the 2022 Vintages. It was a vintage that brought many challenges, but with his expertise you would never know. The wines are incredibly balanced, focused and fresh with wonderful character. These wines should age gracefully for many year to come.
