Resting for 16 months in 25% new French oak barrels, the 2021 Cancilla Vineyard Pinot Noir from Haden Fig sports a glistening medium ruby-garnet core with a bluish rim in the glass. Lovely aromas of wet earth, sour cherries, cedary herbs, and toasted tree nuts pounce on the nose. Tannins are crunchy but starting to integrate nicely, while the lemony acidity pushes a red-fruit and crushed white peppercorn finish. Only 75 cases were made.
