Starting off with a bright light lemon core with a water rim in the glass, the 2021 Hazelfern Chardonnay from the Willamette Valley boasts a nose with just a touch of reduction, which invites you in for more. Impressive aromas of grilled lemon citrus, blanched almonds, wet crushed stones, Asian pear, and underripe peach jump from the glass. It’s aged for 11 months in about 15% new French oak, which gives it just a kiss of baking spice flavors on the mid-palate. A lovely wine for the price point.
