Peppery and herbal on the nose to start, the 2021 Champoux Vineyard Cabernet Franc by Avennia is a gorgeous effort and shows the potential of the Washington State varietal. Elevated earthy notes of ground white peppercorns, dried cedary herbs, crushed dried flowers, and tilled earth give way to lovely blue and black fruit notes alongside sweet and peppery spice. Tannins are supple and integrated nicely with the elevated acidity that carries the earthy finish. Highly recommended.
