The 2013 Gramercy Cellars 'Oldfield Vineyard' Syrah is another gorgeous release from this estate. The wine was 100% stem-fermented and was aged in both used 225L and 500L puncheons for 18 months prior to bottling. They have utilized Hermitage clone 383 Syrah for this great wine. Benefiting from extended air contact to be fully aromatically expressive, this Syrah begins with alluring aromatics of black cherry, anise, crème de cassis and black olive. There are rich, concentrated flavors of crème de cassis, mocha, anise and black cherries resonatong on the palate. This has wonderful intensity, with a round, plush mouthfeel. Only 178 cases made of this spectacular wine. (Best 2016-2026) - August, 2016 (OB)
