Mostly Grenache, with a small amount of Syrah and Mourvedre included to round out the blend, the 2021 Beatus Chateauneuf du Pape displays a gorgeous medium to dark ruby core with a neon red rim in the glass. It’s pure CDP with those notes of red and black cherries, wet earth, dried mint, crushed red and purple flowers, and hints of roasted meat and crushed black olives. The vigorous palate captures more of the minerality and earthiness, finishing with some toasted spice notes that coat the back of the palate. Better in 2025. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
