The 2016 Hyde Vineyard Chardonnay is a terrific showing in this vintage. Winemaker Dan Petroski harvested his Chardonnay twice. The first fruit was picked early in August, which was planned for use in his ‘Annia’ white to add structure to the blend. The second pick took place within a few weeks, but was slightly delayed as a result of the cooler weather in Carneros. Nonetheless, this Chardonnay opens to vibrant aromatics of citrus, nectarine and crushed stones followed by hints of jasmine and almond. On the palate it possesses a beautiful texture with wonderful balance of minerality and acidity lasting throght the finish. While this Chardonnay is already offering plenty of early appeal, it also shows the potential to further evolve with some short-term cellaring. (Best 2018-2025) - July, 2017 (MD)
