The 2019 Nomad Red Wine from Aperture is only crafted in outstanding vintages - 2014, 2016, and this vintage - 2019. Resting for 22 months in 70% new French oak barrels, it’s a stupendous mélange of 55% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Franc, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, 2% Petit Verdot, and 2% Malbec from the Sugarloaf Vineyard in Napa Valley. A deep ruby-garnet core sits below a fluorescent purple rim in the glass. A treat on the nose - think aromas of blueberry compote, black cherry, boysenberry pie, dried mountain sage, white tobacco leaf, scorched thyme, and wet-tilled earth are all present and wonderfully balanced. Full-bodied, with sweet crunchy tannins, perfect levels of acidity, and a lengthy blue-fruit forward finish that goes on for minutes. Highly recommended. About 340 cases were produced. $175 99 Points 2023-2039
