The 2017 'Alessio' Proprietary Red is an outstanding blend consisting of 58% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Tench Vineyard in Oakville, and 42% Cabernet Franc which was sourced from Sugar Loaf. This is an outstanding wine which begins with seductive aromas of fresh ripe blackberries and dark currants that are woven together with mocha, violets, dark chocolate, licorice, sweet pipe tobacco and a lovely sense of minerality. On the palate this is intense, yet well poised, with a full body that is structure with round, beautifully polished frame. It displays incredible depth and concentration, yet remains nicely balanced and light on its feet, as layers of ripe dark fruits continue to persist through the lavish finish. Russell Bevan has crafted a sensational wine that is showing incredible in its youth, but should also go on to have an absolutely brilliant future ahead.
