The 2016 Songbook is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot sourced from two of David Abreu’s personally-farmed properties: Thorevilos Vineyard, situated between the St. Helena and Howell Mountain AVAs, and Madrona Ranch, nestled in the foothills of the Mayacamas mountain range. This is a sensational showing, as it instantly opens to beautifully perfumed aromas of blackcurrants, black cherries and crème de cassis joined by pencil shavings, herbs and exotic spices that all come together and burst from the glass. The palate is full-bodied, plush and seamless with a long multi-layered finish that lingers gracefully. This is an absolutely fabulous effort offers plenty of upfront appeal, but has the potential to age for decades.
