The 2016 'Jack’s Masterpiece' is sourced from a host of Napa Valley AVAs and is another stunning release from Hall in this vintage. It begins with inviting aromatics of ripe dark currants, roasted coffee bean, dried sage and a dusty mineral character that are all brilliantly woven together on the expressive nose. The power on the mid-palate is quite massive, as the wine shows moderate tannins framed by a complex flavor profile of espresso beans, tar, black currant jelly and shades of blackberry pie. Seductive and intense in its youth this beautiful wine should cellar well for years to come. While already impressive, readers should allow this spectacular wine at least another year of bottle age before approaching.
