SOJOURN CELLARS Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 'Proprietary Cuvée' 2016

The 2016 Proprietary Cuvée is a fantastic showing from this excellent vintage. The cabernet is sourced from two if the Valley's most iconic vineyards, the famed Beckstoffer Georges III Vineyard in Rutherford (clone 337) and the exclusive, Oakville Ranch Vineyard (clones 4 and 337), which is situated at 1,400 feet above the Napa Valley floor on the foothills of the Vaca Mountains on the far eastern edge of Oakville. The lots were separately fermented on skins for 21 days and then aged for 18 months in a mixture of Darnajou, Taransaud and de Jarnac barrels. The result is an outstanding wine that offers incredibally seductive aromas of ripe black currants and dark cherries woven together with mocha, baking spices and hints of pencil shavings all merging together in the glass. The palate is full and rich, with lovely opulent texture, giving way to a ripe core that is laced with flavors of ripe dark berries, mocha and sweet spices that continue through the finish. This is extreamly accessible today, however it should also go on to offer a lengthy drinking window that spans over a decade long.
