The 2016 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is composed of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc, which spent 16 months 100% French oak (50% new, 50% neutral). As it slowly unwinds in the glass aromas of red currents and bramble berries come together woven together with spices, underbrush and hints of cedar. On the palate this possesses a medium to full-bodied, with a nice mouthfeel, backed by slightly grainy tannins and a fresh, juicy core giving way to flavors of brambly fruit, spices, licorice and peppery character which persists through the finish. If approaching this in its youth, allow it some time to unwind as it evolves beautifully in the glass with extended air contact.
