The 2016 Estate ‘Black Label’ Red is an absolutely sensational release from Viader. It is composed from top lots of Viader’s Howell Mountain estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Cabernet Franc. The result is a powerhouse of a wine that instantly offers profound aromas of crème de cassis, blueberries, pencil lead, herbs, spices, tobacco, chocolate and dried loam, which all come together and burst from the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and rich, with big voluptuous tannins that are beautifully integrated. It continues to impress with its plush, multi-layered texture, and dense core of ripe dark fruits and sweet spices that continue to expand through the wine. Displaying incredible depth and concentration, this majestic red comes to an end with a huge finish that lingers on and on. The 'Black Label' is a flat-out delicious red that is simply fantastic today, but also possesses the building blocks to flourish for years in the cellar for decades.
