The 2016 Provenance Merlot opens with black tea, blackberry cobbler and shades of red bell pepper with toasty oak that all nicely combine aromatically. Silky smooth on the mid-palate, this Merlot has a soft mouthfeel. Chocolate covered cherry, black tea, anise and wild blackberry pie flavors all mingle together. While this is delicious now, the 2016 Provenance Merlot will have another decade of life in the cellar.
