The 2016 Merlot by Stags’ Leap was aged for 20 months in French oak prior to bottling. The nose shows powerful aromas of red bell pepper, sage, black tea and blackberry cobbler with a touch of milk chocolate. On the palate this is plush, revealing a velvery texture and a ripe mouthfeel which is drapped in flavors of red bell pepper, milk chocolate and boysenberry cordial. While simply delicious now, this Merlot also has the potential to age in the cellar for a decade.
