REALM CELLARS Proprietary Red, Napa Valley 'Falstaff' 2016

Falstaff is predominately Cabernet Franc with a percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon which varies in each vintage. In 2016 the Falstaff is composed of 63% Cabernet Franc and 37% Cabernet Sauvignon. The Cabernet Franc is sourced form from Weitz, Fortuna and Beckstoffer To Kalon, while the Cabernet Sauvignon is from Beckstoffer To Kalon. The wine itself is simply stunning as it begins with profound aromas of ripe black currants and blueberry compote woven together with spring florals, exotic spices and graphite along with loamy nuances all bursting from the glass. On the palate this full-bodied and layered, possessing incredible depth and concentration, with flavors of dark and blue fruits combining with exotic spices and a gorgeous mineral character. Voluptuous and multidimensional, this awe-inspiring wine continues to thoroughly impress through the long, mouth coating finish. This is a total knockout from Juan Mercardo and winemaker Benoit Toquette, which is utterly captivating today, yet should go on to provide years of drinking pleasure.
