The 2013 Nagual Del Marzo is a blend of 55% Sangiovese, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Barbera. The fruit comes from the Marzo Block, which is located on Oak Creek at an elevetion of 3500 feet. It opens to inviting aromas of red cherries and exotic spices woven together with violets, tobacco, iron, and hints of graphite all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied, with a lovely round texture, coupled with excellent depth and concentration. Well-structured and refined, this continues to impress with delicious flavors of red berries, cherries, violets and crushed rocks that linger on the long, dry finish. This will most likely show its best after some additional bottle age and should continue to become even more compelling over the course of the next decade.
