FOXEN Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley ‘Bien Nacido Vineyard Block 8’ 2019

The 2019 Los Poteros rested 16 months in 30% new French oak barrels and was my favorite Foxen Pinot Noir from my tasting. The balance between the scrumptious red berry fruit, the earthy sweet clove, and the savory poultry herbs is almost perfect. Like most of the Pinot Noir coming from the famed Bien Nacido Vineyard, this one gives that particular sagebrush and umami tone to the palate, showing the terroir that I adore. Lip-smacking acidity, rounded firm tannins, and a medium-bodied mouthfeel complete the wine. 622 cases were made. Highly recommended.
