OPTIK Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley ‘Solomon Hills Vineyard’ 2020

A highly perfumed nose that displays aromas of crushed blueberry, black cherry, wet earth, and spice. The palate is concentrated and fruit-driven, bringing additional layers of black raspberry, toasted cinnamon, umami, and scorched sage. The ample freshness and floral lift help the wine avoid any heaviness on the palate, despite its elevated levels of alcohol. It is aged for 11 months in 35% new French oak barrels which gives it some of the toasted baking spice notes. An herbaceous note completes the lengthy finish. 337 cases produced.
