Rusty red ruby in the glass, this 100% Merlot from the Quintessence Vineyard of Red Mountain is aged for 22 months in 69% new French oak. Mineral-ladened black cherry and raspberry preserve, melted milk chocolate and some asian spice form the nose and silky ripe red fruits, boysenberry and pencil shaving flavors are given lift by the juicy acidity and a lengthy mineral finish. Tannins are present but already starting to integrate smoothly into the wine.
