CADENCE Red Wine, Red Mountain ‘Bel Canto’ 2018

The Bel Canto from the Cara Mia Vineyard in Red Mountain spends 23 months in 50% new French oak and is a blend of 73% Cabernet Franc and 27% Merlot. If you want to understand the incredible Cabernet Francs coming out of Washington State, this is a perfect example if you can find a bottle. After tasting this wine I asked myself, “Why don’t I try to find more Cab Francs to drink because they are often so enjoyable!” Complexity on the nose and palate is the key to this wine. Give it a few hours in the glass and watch it evolve. Notes of blackberry, dark cherry, cassis, forest floor, dried sage, tomato leaf, dark chocolate shavings and pomegranate seed spring from the glass and onto your palate. The body is medium plus and delivers ample acidity and tannin structure to age for a couple of decades. However, it needs some time to develop in bottle before enjoying.
