There aren’t many Cabernets from Red Mountain that are $30 or under, and this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from Chris Upchurch could be the best in this price point. The nose pops with aromas of blackberry, black currant, scorched cloves and a slight hint of green pepper. The palate is fruit-forward – think flavors of blackberry pie with cinnamon crust with savory characteristics of wild sage, tobacco leaf and pencil shavings. Luscious and full in the mouth, it explodes with balanced acidity and chalky tannins. This wine tastes like others that cost 2-3 times a much. 1250 cases produced. Best buy and highly recommended.
