SUNU Pinot Noir, Yamhill-Carlton, Shea East Hill Vineyard 2018

The SUNU Shea East Pinot is a completely different wine than it’s sibling in the West vineyard. Similarly the wine spends 16 months in 30% new French oak barrels but sees only 15% whole cluster fermentation and is fermented in 100% concrete instead of oak barrel. With this outstanding wine, think of a nose of chocolate covered cherries, strawberry seeds, espresso, prosciutto and sandalwood. The palate is just as fun with black raspberry, orange peel, ground clove and wet stone flavors. The fruit is a lot more forward than the other SUNU wines but will still benefit from a few years in bottle. Only 84 cases produced.
