CHAPPELLET Cabernet Sauvignon, Pritchard Hill 2016

The 2016 Chappellet Pritchard Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon is nothing short of utterly fascinating from the second the cork is pulled. It instantly begins with incredibly seductive aromatics of ripe black currants, fresh blackberries and blueberries, which are beautifully woven together with exotic spices, violets, sage as well as loam and mineral accents that all come together and burst from the glass. On the palate this is every bit as stunning, full-bodied, intense and concentrated, yet displaying remarkable balance and poise. It continues to impress with its wonderful purity and depth, as plush layers of ripe dark fruits, exotic spices and violets all continue to build and expand seamlessly through the long, opulent finish. The 2016 is a simply majestic wine and clearly amongst the most compelling wines from this fabulous vintage. While this is extremely impressive and flat-out delicious right now, it should also thrive in the cellar and have a remarkably bright future for decades to come.
