LIMERICK LANE Zinfandel, Moon Mountain ‘Monte Rosso Vineyard’ 2020

One of the oldest (1886) and highest (1300 feet of elevation) Zinfandel vineyards anywhere in the world, and this is the first wine from Limerick Lane from that vineyard. It’s 100% destemmed and ages for 17 months in just 10% new French oak barrels. Fresh blackberry, boysenberry pie, black cherry liqueur, white tobacco leaf, wet stone minerality, and some wet earth characteristics really expound on the sense of place where this fruit is grown. I adore the earthy and black-fruit dominant finish alongside the mouthwatering acidity and chalky tannins that will need some time in the bottle to come together. Better in 2024. Just 172 cases produced.
