This is the first vintage Talisman has produced a Nebbiolo and it is a lovely effort. It comes from a small block in the Weir vineyard located in the Yorkville Highlands AVA. It has classic Nebbiolo scents of strawberries and red cherries woven together with roses, spices and a subtle hint of leather which slow begin to emerge from the glass. This is a light-bodied red, but well balanced and firmly structured with fine tannins and a tannic core, with bright red fruits and spicy notes on the finish. While this is currently showing lovely characteristics, it is a bit restraint at the moment, and will benefit with additional bottle age to soften and gain some secondary characteristics.
