RPM WINES Gamay Noir 2012

RPM Wines is a collaborative effort from Nathan Roberts and Duncan Arnot Meyers of Arnot-Roberts along with world renowned sommelier Rajat Parr (ROBERTS, PARR, MEYERS). They source the Gamy from two vineyards in the Serria Foothills; Barsotti and Witters. The vines at Barsotti are planted in granitic soil at 2,600'  elevation at the edge of the American River Canyon. The Witter's vineyard was planted in 2000, in soil composed of decomposing granite and volcanic clay-loam at 3,400' elevation, both sites are kept cool by their elevation and proximity to the American River. The wine itself offers beautiful aromas of bright red fruits, crushed raspberry, loamy soil, iron, smoke and pretty floral notes. It is lush and elegant with silky tannins that become dry and stick around on the finish. This is a delicious and extremely well made Gamay that will easily rival top Cru Beaujolais. The 2012 vintage is only the second release from RPM and this project is already off to an incredible start, I am very excited to see more from RPM. (Best 2014-2020) - January, 2014 (MD)
