The 2013 State Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is another sensational release from Nickel & Nickel in this vintage. State Ranch is located in Yountville and consists of both older and younger vines of clone 7 and 4 on 101-14 rootstock, planted to rocky, loam soils. This Cabernet Sauvignon instantly impresses with its dark, opaque color and alluring aromas of ripe black cherries and sweet cassis, layered with violets, cinnamon, sweet spices, mocha, pencil shavings and hints of lightly toasted notes all taking shape in the glass. This is full-bodied with layers of dark ripe fruits and sweet spices which resonate on the palate. It continues to impress with its wonderful round texture, excellent concentration and long expansive finish. This is already absolutely delicious and should continue to provide drinking pleasure for years to come. (Best 2017-2029) - July, 2016 (JD)
