DEVIL PROOF Malbec, Alexander Valley ‘Farrow Ranch’ 2021

The 2021 Devil Proof Farrow Ranch Malbec spent 22 months in approximately 90% new French oak and is another perfect example of Malbec from winemaker Jesse Katz. In the glass, it displays a deep purple-colored core with a fluorescent purple rim. Scintillating aromas and flavors of marionberries, black cherries, dried purple wildflowers, toasted herbs, anise seed, and orange-colored earth are all present and flawlessly combined. A bit lighter on its feet than its siblings, it’s totally different from its siblings but just as delicious. Acidity is elevated, which helps balance out the crunchy tannins and full-bodied mouthfeel. Another amazing Malbec that deserves your attention. About 300 cases made. Highly recommended and editor’s choice.
