The 2016 Mountain Cuvée is sourced form Lisa Chu’s vineyard located above the fog line at an elevation of 1,500ft on Mt. Veeder. Vines consist of Merlot and Cabernet Franc planted to thin soils comprised of uplifted marine sediment and fractured shale. The result is an extremely delicate and refined red that opens to aromas of red berries and cassis, wild herbs, flowers, orange zest, crushed stones and subtle hints of dried spices all taking shape. This light to medium-bodied red, is structured with fine, silky tannins and displays notable overall balance as it remains fresh and inviting through the bright finish. The Mountain Cuvée is all about elegance and it should will be interesting to see how this evolves over the course of the next few years.
