RAMEY WINE CELLARS Cabernet Sauvignon, Pedregal Vineyard 2014

The 2014 Pedregal Cabernet Sauvignon is another remarkable showing from David Ramey. Composed of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Petit Verdot which was co-fermented, and aged 25 months in new French oak barrels. The result is a fantastic wine, which delivers inviting aromatics of blackberries, dark cherries and cassis woven together with graphite, anise, tobacco, violets and hints of sweet asian spices which all begin to take shape. On the palate this is full-bodied, powerful and voluptuous, yet displays excellent overall balance, depth and concentration with a wonderful core of ripe dark fruits and spices that expand seamlessly through the polished finish. While this is already showing plenty of early appeal, I expect this to become even more compelling as David Ramey’s Cabernets have a track record to age extreamly well. (Best 2020-2034) - November, 2017 (JD)
