The 2016 Oakville Cabernet Sauvignon is largely comprised of Oakville Ranch fruit. The vineyard is set at 1,000 to 1,400 feet above sea level, and is set on a combination with soils of clay over volcanic rock along the rugged 330-acre estate, tucked into a rocky shelf on the foothills of the Vaca Mountains in eastern Oakville. This wine shows its best aromatic expression following a one hour decant. Once fully open, it displays wonderful aromas of ground coffee, roasted fig and black cherry compote aromas that impress. The palate is plush and refined, showing mild tannins and marked by flavors crème de cassis, Turkish coffee, and roasted dates. Downright delicious now, this will cellar well for the next fifteen plus years.
