The 2018 Chardonnay from Hyde Vineyard is truly spectacular. A classic expression of Chardonnay, made from a parcel of Musque clones planted in 1992. It instantly begins to impress as it displays striking aromas of lemon curd, orchard fruits, pulverized stones, lime zest, flint and floral nuances that jump from the glass. The palate offers beautifully focused and precise flavors of orchard fruits, crushed rocks and citrus notes with secondary layers of lemon custard and a notable stony character, delivered through a gorgoeus creamy texture that leads right into the long finish. This is a total gem, and the most compelling Chardonnay to date from Dan Petroski and should continue to gain complexity as further evolves.
