The 2009 ‘Finca Valdeolmos’ is a gorgeous Tempranillo with a touch of Albillo that takes your senses on a wild ride. There are layers of aromas starting with ripe blackberries and raspberries, then the freshness some in with some freshly sliced cucumber and stony mineral finally followed by savory notes of chipotle powder, balsamic, exotic spices, pepper and meat. This shows incredible structure and it is beaming with intense acidity straight through the core. The finish is bright, juicy and long marked by raspberry and spices. This needs some additional time in bottle to settle down, but there is wonderful potential here. (Best 2016-2028) - December, 2013 (JD)
