The 2017 Burn Cottage Central Otago Pinot Noir is absolutely brilliant. This instantly opens to a complex bouquet that is laced with aromas of black cherries, pomegranate and black raspberries which are accented by dried spices, dried spring florals, herbs and orange peel that all emerge from the glass. On the palate this possesses a gorgeous medium body that is fresh and racy, with a round, silky texture framing beautifully concentrated flavors of red/dark berries, spices, rose petals and earthy tones. The finish is elegant and seamless, with a lovely touch of acidity framing the berry and spice flavors. Overall, this is a stunning Pinot Noir that is seductive and impossible to resist today, but should also continue to evolve gracefully over the next decade and beyond.
