The 2014 Grattamacco Bolgheri Superiore Rosso is already showing some early flare, as this blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot opens with aromas of blackberies, blueberries and cherries woven together with tobacco, vanilla, floral and spices all soaring from the glass. On the palate this is round and nicely polished, with a fleshy core of juicy red and black fruits along with tobacco notes expanding onto the lingering finsh. Allow this Rosso another year or two in bottle to settle in as it is still showing a noteable youthful character. Aged for 18 months in barrique, in first and second passage and at least 12 months in bottle. (Best 2018-2027) - February, 2017 (JD)
