The 2014 Campo di Camagi is the most compelling Cabernet Franc from Andrea Franchetti in this vintage. Camagi is a 25-year-old, 1.5-hectare vineyard situated at 660 meters, where Cabernet Franc vines have grown on broken quartz and limestone. This beautifully concentrated, yet refined Cabernet Franc bursts open with striking aromas of cassis and blueberries followed by tobacco, dried soil, sweet spices, fresh violets and graphite all taking shape in the glass. On the palate this is full-bodied and beautifully balanced, with a gorgeous texture backed by polished tannins, which grip a firm hold on the supple finish. This spent 8 months in new French oak barrels and 11 months in cement tanks. Today, Campo di Camagi is already extremely impressive, however there is also a long bright future in store for this remarkable wine. (Best 2018-2030) - April, 2017 (JD)
