The 2017 Cantina di Verona Amarone della Valpolicella begins with inviting aromatics of ripe dark cherries, blackberries and dried plums, which are accented by exotic spices, chocolate, wet stones and hints of licorice. On the palate this is medium to full-bodied and beautifully polished, delivering a mouthful of ripe, juicy dark fruits, which are framed by lovely spice nuances. This continues to impress with its outstanding concentration and layered texture. It all comes to an end with a long, juicy finish that leaves behind delicious ripe flavors lingering. A fantastic Amarone that should handle a decade of cellaring.
