The 2014 Valpolicella from Dal Forno has evolved brilliantly and is showing exceptionally well. Offering tantalizing aromatics of dark cherries, raisins, tar, tobacco, exotic spices, sweet charred oak, chocolate and underlying hints dried dark florals all coming together in perfect harmony. The palate is full-bodied, concentrated and beautifully balanced with a lovely touch acidity adding a sense of freshness and keeping it light on its feet. The big polished tannins have beautifully integrated, resulting in a gorgeous sleek mouthfeel and a long tapered finish. While there is plenty of life left in the 2014, it will no longer demand any additional bottle age, it is drinking sensational today. Dal Forno did not produce an Amarone in this vintage, so the focus was put solely on the Valpolicella. Simply put, this is an utterly stunning wine.
