This gorgeous Nerello Mascalese comes from Rampante, which is over 100 years in age and situated 3,300 feet above sea level, on the foothills of Mt. Etna. Elegant and refined with lovely purity this releases striking aromas of strawberries, raspberries, rose petals, spices, orange zest and wet stones which are underlined by hints of saline minerals. Beautifully balanced, silky and precise as the lovely acidy keeps this fresh and vibrant through the finish. The Nerello Mascalese spent 18 months aging in large, neutral oak barrels. This is a absolutely wonderful showing from Andrea Franchetti in this vintage and should continue to evolve beautifully. (Best 2019-2030) - July, 2017 (JD)
