FRANK CORNELISSEN Rosso 'MunJebel CS' 2014

This simply beautiful Nerello Mascalese from Frank Cornelissen comes from the Chiusa Spagnola Vineyard in Etna's Northern Valley. The vineyard lies lower on the valley floor and contains ungrafted vines over 90-years-old. This is one of the most impressive wines in the range, having a gorgeous bouquet, with vivid aromas of fresh wild berries, licorice, smoke, dried herbs and beautiful violets jumping from the glass. On the palate this is elegant, yet structured with fine texture and impeccable balance. There is a lovely inner sweetness at its core, which is framed by crushed mineral and fresh florals, making this nearly impossible to resist. While this is already extremely impressive, it will certainly continue to develop over the next decade and beyond. (Best 2017-2030) - November, 2016 (MD)
