An absolutely brilliant Nerello Mascalese from the Guardiola Cru, which sits 800-900 meters above sea level on the north side of Mount Etna and is the highest red-wine producing vineyard in all of Europe. The wine dazzles with its wonderful purity, freshness and elegant personality, offering pretty aromas of ripe strawberries, raspberries, spices, floral and a hint of mint leaf, which are all woven together beautifully. It’s well structured backed by gorgeous polished tannins that finesse all the way through the finish. This constantly evolves with each second of air and I only expect it to continue to do so over the next decade. A superb job by Marco de Grazia, and without doubt one of the best values that comes to mind. (Best 2016-2027) - November, 2014 (JD)
