Cornelissen's 'Munjebel CR' is a faboulus showing in 2017. It comes from the Contrada Campo Re site that is located at 730 meters above sea level on the western side of the valley floor. This 100% Nerello Mascalese is sourced from 70-year-old vines, and it opens to vibrant aromarics of ripe cherries, raspberries and strawberries which are followed by secondary notes of chocolate covered berries, earthy minerals and hints of dark loam. The palate is soft and elegant, with wonderful finesse and a beautiful core of laced with sweet red berry flavors that that glide seamlessly across the palate and linger through the finish. This wine is already simply gorgoeus, and it becomes more captivating with each minuite in the glass. That said, this should really hit its stride after a few years of bottle age and should provide many years of drinking pleasure to come.
