The 2016 Scrimaglio Barolo is a beautiful showing that is already very expressive. It offers pretty aromas cherries and raspberries woven together with dried violets, tar, licorice, herbs and fresh minerals, which all take shape as this unwinds in the glass. On the palate this is medium-bodied and displays excellent overall balance and focus. It is supported by firm, yet well-polished tannins and a lovely sense of freshness that continues through the long finish. This is accessible now, but should also have a wonderful evolution over the next decade.
