The 2012 Il Paradiso di Frassina Brunello di Montalcino comes from a selection of the best Sangiovese grapes from Paradiso’s vineyards. This spent 12 months in French oak barrels (7 hl), 24 months in French and Slavonian oak barrels (15/20/30 hl) followed by 18 months in bottle prior to release. The result is a lovely Brunello, which delivers aromas of red cherries and red plums woven together with leather, juniper berries, herbs, spices, orange peel and earthy tones all taking shape in the glass. The medium-plus body shows nice balance and grips a firm hold on the finish. If approaching early on air contact is benificial, however this will be best with another year or two of bottle age.
