The L'Esprit de Maucoil comes from old vines, minimum 70-years old, and is a blend consisting of all 13 Châteauneuf-du-Pape grape varietals. It begins with pretty aromas of red berry, kirsch, ground coffee, earthy soil and violet nuances. On the palate this is beautifully textured, with wonderful purity of fruit, combined with earthy characteristics all building up to the long finish. This is a fantastic wine today, but should also gain complexity over the next decade plus.
