The 2018 Château Macard 'Reserve' is an excellent showing in this vintage. It begins to impress with its aromatic profile of fresh dark cherries and dark berries that are accented with tobacco, violets, charcoal and minerals all taking shape. On the palate this possesses a medium-plus body, with gorgeous velvety tannins that are underlined by a lovely touch of acidity which provides a wonderful sense of freshness through the long finish. This is drinking beautifully today, but it should also offer a drinking window that spans at least a decade.
