The 2011 Saint-Joseph from Hervé Souhaut is an incredible effort. This Syrah is vinified using whole-clusters and without sulphur in large, old wooden vats prior to being aged in small, used barrels. It’s woven together with gorgeous aromas of black olive, tobacco, dark currant, white pepper, truffle and fresh violets. Medium-bodied and elegant with soft tannins and a slight dry finish. This is a lovely bottle of wine that is showing well today, however it should also improve with a few more years in the. (Best 2015-2024) - November, 2014 (MD)
