The 2007 François Villard Côte-Rôtie Le Gallet Blanc has bold and sexy aromas of blackberry, Turkish coffee, hot stone along with some floral and earthy notes. Lively acidity, almost so much it becomes out of balance. On the finish the fruit becomes a bit tart and sour. If the palate and finish could match the beautiful aromas on this wine it would be near perfect, unfortunately that’s not the case right now and maybe with some more age it will flesh out. - March, 2012 (JD)
